Hey friends!
Well, we’re getting there! Lightning Sands is officially outlined (as of July 12, and I’m thanking myself profusely for scheduling these out!) and will (rather weirdly) start being posted in the next newsletter! This looks like it’ll probably be August 31, if it all tracks.
It’s weird trying to figure out the logistics of this to be perfectly honest. Like I haven’t actually begun writing the story, but I have posts ready for it to actually be unofficially published here and that feels really weird.
Regardless! I’m excited to start sharing it here. Creating the world has been really fun and the fact that there are so many ways to share it with people now is astounding.
The thing is that I’ve never thought it was particularly unique. Maybe there are some aspects of it that aren’t something I’ve seen in fantasy before, but overall it’s an earth like our own. But I love culture and learning new things and creating them. Some are loosely based on our own earth cultures, some more heavily and some not at all. This story- these stories- are simply my way of understanding what I don’t, and navigating my own world from somebody else’s eyes.
Really, I think it’s the people and the lessons we can learn from them (ask me what I learned from storytelling about depression and perseverance. Go on, ask!), even if it’s happening entirely in my head.
So, I guess you’ll want to know what the first story is all about.
Faizan and the Lightning Sands-
Here we find ourselves captive of the Lightning Sands of Medea watching the discovery of one of the earliest innovations of this great country unfold. Follow Faizan as he travels across the perilous desert to bring word of his companion’s demise to their family. On this journey, he’ll learn that to be great, he must do great things and not wait for them to come to him.
I can’t believe it’s starting next week! Stay tuned!
